Green Roof Design
The Neptune School Educational Green Roof
Located in Neptune New Jersey the Neptune Community Elementary School wanted a green roof on their new building. The green roof handles stormwater and reduces heating and cooling costs. Extensive and intensive plantings are used and a paved gathering area with benches is included. A stainless steel aqueduct system will collect roof runoff and deliver it to rock filled splash basins on the roof deck. The new green roof will be used as a teaching tool for students to learn about stormwater management and conservation. Erik Karlsson served as project landscape architect providing design, construction documentation and project coordination in collaboration with SED Design Studio.
